Marina beach is situated along a 12 kilometer shoreline in the city of Chennai along the Bay of Bengal from Fort St George all the way to Mahabalipuram. In fact is it one of the longest beaches in the world. This beach is sandy in nature unlike the rockier formations that you come across in Juhu Beach. A visit to here is an enchanting experience for visitors. The beach has new artificial fountains and parks which adds to its beauty. There are various monumental builds one of them includes 19th century Presidency College building.
There is a swimming pool and an aquarium located just opposite to this college which is an great attraction for tourists. The swimming pool is run by the State Government. The aquarium has good collection of marine and fresh water fishes. At the southern end of the Marina Beach is the New Light House and it stands 48m above sea level also it offers you a panoramic view of the city. Despite of the destruction caused by the cold hearted Tsunami waves, the beach has regained its pristine beauty because of its hardworking community.
